The 761st Tank Battalion entered combat in France on November 7, 1944, and fought continuously for 183 days across six European countries. Their motto, "Come Out Fighting," defined their approach to every challenge they faced, whether the enemy fire of Nazi Germany or the racial discrimination of a segregated U.S. Army. They fought in the Battle of the Bulge, helped liberate several Nazi concentration camps, and linked up with Soviet forces at the end of the war. Staff Sergeant Ruben Rivers, who continued to fight despite a severe wound until he was killed in action, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 1997. This hoodie is a tribute to Rivers and all the African American heroes of the 761st.
